The Chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information made the foregoing statement during the public presentation of the Law in the city of Chernivtsi on May 26. The event was organized jointly with Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Chernivtsi regional council, and Chernivtsi city council.
"If we are concerned with implementation of the laws, the Verkhovna Rada should not only adopt the laws, but also set the example in case with the law on access to the public information," A.Shevchenko stated.
The People´s Deputy stated that the law was developed in close cooperation between the authorities, opposition, civil society and journalists. A.Shevchenko stressed, "The Law drastically changes the philosophy of power, and these changes are so grave that only joint efforts can make this law work."
The committee chairman informed that public presentation of the law in Chernivtsi is the first in the series of presentations in the regional centers of Ukraine.
